Within a long corporate career with Air New Zealand, Andrew has worked across many divisions and disciplines, including Government and Industry Affairs, Marketing and Brand, Customer Service, Communications and Tourism.
He knew if he could prove the value of Māori culture to Air New Zealand, he could shine a light on the value of Māori culture for all New Zealand businesses and the world.
The task? To authentically imbue Māori culture into the DNA of Air New Zealand and its 12,000 people to boost the business’ overall reputation and thus its staff retention and profitability.
Created and driven by Andrew, Air New Zealand’s Māori Strategy integrated Māori culture across the entire business from the customer experience to procurement, sustainability to executive leadership. His award-winning work was recognised with the Business and Supreme Award in the Māori Language Awards 2016. Air New Zealand became one of New Zealand’s most engaged businesses in Māori language and culture and, during Andrew’s tenure, it was awarded the ATW Airline of the Year award two years out of three - something no airline had ever achieved, making it the “Best Airline in the World.”
That was the start, since then Andrew has brought his extensive experience, culture and business acumen to the aid of many organisations on their journey to Te Ao Māori.
